Arsenal still have something to play for on the final day of the Premier League season as we welcome Brighton to the Emirates with European qualification within our sights.

Our season looked dead and buried just a few weeks ago after we crashed out of the Europa League but a good run of form in the league has reignited hopes of salvaging something from a disastrous campaign.

Wednesday night’s 3-1 win at Crystal Palace made it four consecutive wins and Arsenal now head into the final game sitting ninth in the table – just one point behind Tottenham and Everton.

We know that victory over Brighton this afternoon would see us climb to seventh and secure qualification to the Europa Conference League if Tottenham and Everton drop points in their games.

And with Spurs away at top-4 chasing Leicester and Everton travelling to champions Man City, that’s a distinct possibility so we have a realistic chance of still playing European football next season.

Hector Bellerin will miss the game today after failing to recover from a leg injury and it means he may have played his last game for Arsenal amid strong reports suggesting he’ll leave the club this summer.

David Luiz will be given a late fitness test as he looks to say goodbye with a final appearance having missed Arsenal’s last few games with a thigh injury. Mat Ryan isn’t available as he’s unable to play against his parent club.

Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard could be recalled after impressing off the bench against Palace last time out while Granit Xhaka is expected to return to the starting eleven.

Brighton will be without Danny Welbeck as the striker misses out against his old club due to a hamstring injury while Neal Maupay, Joel Veltman, Davy Propper, Solly March, Tariq Lamptey and Jose Izquierdo are also out for the visitors.

However, captain Lewis Dunk is available for selection again after serving his two-match suspension.

Prediction

Arsenal 2-1 Brighton: We lost this fixture 2-1 last season and have only won just of our last seven meetings with Brighton. They can be a dangerous side on their day as they have played some good football this season but we still expect Arsenal to be too strong this afternoon. Arteta knows he needs to win this game in order to stand a chance of qualifying for Europe and Brighton have very little left to play for, so we’re going for a narrow home win.
