Confirmed line-ups: Aston Villa vs Arsenal – Ramsdale and Martinelli ruled out
Arsenal will be looking to get back to winning ways when we take on Aston Villa at Villa Park this afternoon.
The Gunners have suffered a major blow as Aaron Ramsdale has been ruled out of today’s game after suffering a hip injury during the 2-0 defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday night. Bernd Leno is given a recall to start between the sticks.
Gabriel Martinelli has also been ruled out due to illness so Emile Smith Rowe is brought back into the starting eleven. Bukayo Saka starts once again on the right side of Arsenal’s attack so Nicolas Pepe has to make-do with a place on the bench.
Kieran Tierney continues at left-back while Cedric Soares starts at right-back once again in the continued absence of Takehiro Tomiyasu – who’s still working his way back from a calf injury. Ben White and Gabriel start in the middle of Arsenal’s defence with Rob Holding on the bench.
Martin Odegaard keeps his place in the starting eleven with Alexandre Lacazette leading the line up front once again. Eddie Nketiah is among the substitutes but Arsenal look light of top class attacking options on the bench this afternoon.
These are the line-ups:
Aston Villa
Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Young, Luiz, McGinn, Ramsey, Coutinho, Buendia, Watkins
Subs: Olsen, Sanson, Traore, Chambers, Ings, Bailey, O’Reilly, Iroegbunam, Chukwuemeka
Arsenal
Leno, Tierney, White, Gabriel, Cedric, Partey, Xhaka, Smith Rowe, Saka, Odegaard, Lacazette.
Subs: Okonkwo, Holding, Pepe, Tavares, Sambi Lokonga, Elneny, Nketiah, Swanson.
