Arsenal agree personal terms with Leicester star Youri Tielemans
Arsenal have reportedly agreed on personal terms with Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans as per the transfer expert Ben Jacobs.
The Gunners are seemingly eager to sign a new centre-midfielder before the end of this summer transfer window and the 25-year-old is thought to be their priority target to strengthen their engine room.
Commenting on a Tweet from The Sun journalist Daniel Cutts, Ben Jacobs has written that Arsenal have already agreed on personal terms with Tielemans and if Mikel Arteta’s side make the official bid then the Belgian will move to the Emirates Stadium.
The journalist further claims that Leicester have dropped their asking price from an initial £35m to £30m but there is still a valuation gap between Arsenal and the Foxes as the north London club only wants to pay around £23m for Tielemans.
Jacobs said:
“Yes broad personal terms have been agreed. If Arsenal bid, he’ll sign.
“Also my understanding is Leicester want just over £30m or early in the window £35m all in, which is basically what they paid for him. Arsenal valued him at just under £25m in January (I believe £23m) and not a lot has changed.”
Tielemans to Arsenal
Arsenal have enjoyed a brilliant start to the new campaign as they have won the first three games in the Premier League and are currently sitting at the top of the table. Arteta’s side are the only team remaining in this division who are yet to drop a single point this term.
From now on the games will come thick and fast as the Gunners will have to play twice, every week. And I don’t think they have the squad depth – especially in midfield – to keep their impressive performances going throughout this entire season.
Therefore, signing a new midfielder is an absolute necessity for Arsenal and Tielemans would be an excellent acquisition for the north London club. The 25-year-old can play anywhere in the middle of the park, has the ability to play threading passes between the lines, has an eye for long-range passing and also can contribute going forward.
So, Tielemans has almost every attribute to become an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s system for years to come if he were to join the club. Arsenal need depth in their squad and therefore, they should pay Leicester’s asking price and get this deal done as quickly as possible.
