Journalist claims Arsenal target Mudryk will leave Shakhtar next year

Arsenal target Mykhaylo Mudryk will reportedly leave Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk next year, as per the transfer Insider Dean Jones.

The Gunners were linked with a move for the highly-rated forward during the recently concluded transfer window, however, they couldn’t finalise a deal for the 21-year-old before the deadline.

Some reports claim that Mikel Arteta’s side might reignite their interest in signing the Ukraine international in January. The youngster recently stated that it would be hard for him to reject Arsenal if they were to make a move for him in the winter transfer window.

Meanwhile, speaking on GiveMeSport, Dean Jones has stated that Mudryk’s excellent performance in last week’s Champions League fixture against RB Leipzig has ‘caught the attention of’ every suitor who is following him at the moment.

The journalist further claims that the 21-year-old is expected to leave Shakhtar Donetsk and ‘there’s no way’ he will stay in the Ukrainian capital after this year.

Mudryk to Arsenal

Jones said:

“He put on a super show that’s caught the attention of pretty much anyone that was watching that. There’s no way, I see, that he won’t move clubs in the next year.”

Signing Mudryk would be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal. However, it will be interesting to see whether the Gunners will make a move for him in January or wait until the end of this season.

Previously David Ornstein reported that having spent big in the summer transfer window, Arteta’s side are conscious of the financial fair play limitations. So, their budget might be limited in the winter.

Mudryk has four years left on his current contract so Shakhtar are under no pressure to sell on the cheap, and Football London suggest that the asking price would be at least £30m. It could be even more if he keeps impressing in Europe, so Arsenal would need to spend big to sign him in January.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see what Arteta’s side will decide to do about their forward line. Arsenal need more options on the flanks, given they are thin on numbers in that department and Mudryk would be a great acquisition to address that issue.
