Arsenal make official bid to sign Shakhtar Donetsk ace Mykhaylo Mudryk
Arsenal have reportedly made an official £52m bid to sign Shakhtar Donetsk forward Mykhaylo Mudryk, as per the TuttoJuve journalist Mirko Di Natale.
The Gunners have continuously been linked with a move for the Ukraine international since the 21-year-old emerged as a potential target last summer.
Fabrizio Romano recently reported that Mikel Arteta’s side have held a positive talk with the youngster’s entourage over a possible transfer move, while Shakhtar could demand a fee of around £52-56m to sell their star man in January.
Di Natale has now claimed that Arsenal are keen on signing Mudryk in this winter window and have already tabled a formal £52m bid to sign the highly-rated forward.
The journalist further states that the ball is now in Shakhtar’s court and the Gunners are waiting for the Ukrainian giants’ response.
Mudryk to Arsenal
If Arsenal can manage to come away with all three points against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday night then they will be at the top of the Premier League table at Christmas for the first time since the 2007/2008 season.
Although they ended up finishing in third place 15 years ago, things could be different this time around. Arteta’s side’s on-field display so far this season can certainly provide hope of that to the Emirates faithful.
However, in order to lift the league title, the north London club must strengthen their squad in January with quality options. It was apparent after the midweek loss versus Brighton & Hove Albion that they can’t compete in every competition with their current squad.
The flank is one of the positions where they lack options and need to add more firepower this winter. Mykhaylo Mudryk could be an excellent acquisition, given he is one of the hottest prospects in world football right now.
So, if the Arsenal hierarchy can manage to get this deal over the line then that would provide more options for Mikel Arteta to rotate his squad – during the second half of this term – and keep his players fresh, which would aid Arsenal to go head-to-head against Manchester City for the Premier League title. And if things go in their favour then they might even go all the way and overcome their 18 years of league title drought this season.
