Arsenal eye January swoop for Palmeiras star Danilo
Arsenal could reportedly intensify their interest in signing Palmeiras midfielder Danilo in the upcoming January transfer window, as per the transfer journalist Ben Jacobs.
The Gunners are seemingly keen on strengthening their engine room in the winter window and they have already been linked with several players, with the Brazilian being one of them.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jacobs has claimed that Arsenal are looking to broker a deal for Danilo but they don’t want to overpay for him. The north London club believe £20m would be the right fee to sign the South American and Palmeiras could be persuaded into selling their star man this January, having rejected a similar offer last summer.
The journalist further states that the mentioned price could be a bargain for Mikel Arteta’s side to sign a highly talented player like the 21-year-old. He possesses great quality and has high potential, so, paying the reported £20m fee would be ‘worthwhile’.
Jacobs also says that Danilo is keen on taking the next step in his career and Premier League is one of his preferred destinations. So, the Gunners could manage to get this deal over the line and this is one of the deals to keep an eye on this January.
Danilo to Arsenal
Ben Jacobs said:
“And then obviously the other name that people are talking about from Arsenal’s perspective is Danilo as well, the Brazilian midfielder.
“And a bit like I suppose Tielemans and Leicester over the summer, it’s a case of trying to get a fee that Arsenal feel is of value and not make that mistake of paying more than they have to. And I think that Danilo is going to be a bit more of a kind of bargain fee from Arsenal’s perspective.
“If they do proceed, Palmeiras are probably looking for around £20 million, maybe even a touch less than that. And I think that for a player of his potential and quality, that would be very worthwhile from Arsenal’s point of view, and Arsenal have been there before with Danilo; they’ve offered, or they’ve certainly considered, around £20 million before for the player.
“And at that point, Palmeiras were not interested, but one window on, they might now be persuaded to sell, and the player’s very interested by the Premier League as well. So that’s one to watch.”
Meanwhile, speaking to CaughtOffside, Fabrizio Romano has also reported on this transfer story and said Arsenal are expected to make a move for a new midfielder in the winter window and Danilo is one of the names on Arteta’s wishlist. The 21-year-old is ‘appreciated’ by the Spanish boss and the club’s relationship with the player’s agent is very good.
The journalist further states that we will need to wait before knowing what Arsenal will do regarding signing Danilo this January.
Romano said:
“Danilo is one of the players on Arsenal’s list since July, he’s appreciated and the relationship with his agents is very good, for sure; I think we’ll have to wait bit longer to find out Arsenal’s next moves.”
Danilo is young and has shown signs of high potential during his time in Brazilian Serie A. So, he would certainly be a very good acquisition for Arsenal if he were to join the Emirates Stadium this January.
