‘Furious’ Suarez Determined To Force Arsenal Move Following Rodgers Comments
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has been left ‘furious’ at boss Brendan Rodgers latest comments and is now more determined than ever to force through a move to Arsenal, according to reports today.
Rodgers claimed on Thursday that Suarez owed the club and it’s fans after they backed him during his race-row case with Patrice Evra and his biting incident with Branislav Ivanovic last season, stating that they’ve treated him like a son and it’s something he shouldn’t forget while considering leaving the club for Arsenal.
“The support he has received from the supporters and the people of the city of Liverpool has been unrivalled.
“In this period of time he’s missed a lot of games for the club through various reasons. The people have stood by him, like a son and really looked after him.
“Whatever happens in the coming weeks that will be in his mind because it’s something you can never forget.” Rodgers is quoted as saying to Sky Sports
Many thought the Northern Irishman was trying to pull on the strikers heart-strings with these comments in an attempt to persuade him in to staying at Anfield. However, it seems it’s had the opposite affect with the Daily Star one of several newspapers who’re reporting that the 26-year-old has been left ‘furious’ by his managers comments and they’ve pushed him even closer to the exit door.
The report claims Suarez feels he has earned that support through his performances on the pitch, which saw him score 30 goals last season, and he’s angry that Rodgers is now using his misdemeanors against him as a way to try and persuade him to stay.
I must say, while I’d love to see Suarez end up an Arsenal player this summer, I do have some sympathy for Liverpool if this is true. Before you jump down my throat, remember how we felt last summer when RVP was pushing for a move to United. All Arsenal fans were livid that he wanted to leave after one good, injury-free season, and were constantly reminding him how we’d stuck by him during seven long years of injury hell.
We were demanding he repaid the faith we’d shown in him by giving us at least another season and to be fair, Liverpool are well within their rights to demand Suarez shows them more respect after the way they’ve stuck by him over the past two years.
Of course it’s great to be on the other side of it this summer and hopefully Liverpool’s loss will be to our gain, but it does make you wonder whether you want that type of character at the club again. Suarez is no doubt a world class talent and I think it’s important we end up signing him after letting Higuain slip through our fingers, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s agitating for a move to Real Madrid in two years time if he does end up joining Arsenal.
As I’ve always said; Suarez = great footballer, horrible human being.
