Arsenal target Rice excited to join the Gunners next summer
Arsenal target and West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice is reportedly excited about the prospect of moving to the Emirates Stadium next summer, as per the Football.london journalist Kaya Kaynak.
The England international, who has entered the final 18 months of his current contract, is seemingly looking to leave the Hammers at the end of this season in order to take the next step in his career as he is keen on playing in the Champions League.
The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the north London club ahead of the summer window as they have identified the Hammers star as the priority target to bolster their engine room.
It has been reported that the Gunners are willing to stay ahead in the race to sign the midfielder by agreeing on personal terms with the player and have offered a £200,000 per week salary package to persuade the Englishman to join the club.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Kaynak has said that Rice is happy that a club of Arsenal’s stature are showing an interest in him. The midfielder is ‘excited by the prospect’ of joining the north London club and playing in the Champions League next season.
Rice to Arsenal
The journalist further states that the Gunners are progressing well in this deal and it looks positive that Mikel Arteta’s side would be able to land the midfielder at the Emirates Stadium in the summer.
Kaynak said:
“From what I hear, he[Rice] is quite happy with that interest[from Arsenal]. He’s quite excited by the prospect of moving to Arsenal and the prospect of playing in the Champions League, which is something he’s always said. He has been very flattered by the fact that Arsenal are making an effort to sign him and going in this way. I think it’s looking positive for Arsenal.”
West Ham have earlier warned that they don’t want to let their star man leave for cheap as they are looking to make the most profit out of their biggest asset’s sale and have slapped an £80m price tag on the 24-year-old’s head.
It has been suggested that the north London club are ready to break the club’s transfer record, which is £72m, to sign Rice next summer. So, it seems likely that Mikel Arteta’s side would be able to lure the Hammers ace away from the London Stadium at the end of this season.
