Arsenal keen on signing Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund
Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Atalanta youngster Rasmus Hojlund in the upcoming summer window, as per the Italian outlet Totto Atalanta.
It has been suggested that the Gunners will once again be busy in the summer window as they are looking to bolster their squad to compete on all fronts next season.
Midfield is seemingly the area that the north London club are prioritising to reinforce at the end of this season. But, it appears they are also exploring the possibility of adding more firepower to the front line.
According to the report by Totto Atalanta, after being impressed by Hojlund’s excellent performances during his debut campaign in Serie A, Arsenal have registered their interest in signing the forward ahead of the summer window.
The report further claims that Arsenal are ready to dig deep and are willing to pay up to £44m to secure the youngster’s signature. And Atalanta may be open to cashing-in if they receive the reported fee this summer.
But, Totto Atalanta states that signing the Dane won’t be easy for the Emirates club as Premier League rivals Newcastle United are also keen on purchasing the 20-year-old.
Hojlund to Arsenal
The Dane is an extremely talented player and possesses high potential. He is extremely quick, strong, possesses a poachers instinct and works hard without the possession so, he could be a solid signing for Arsenal.
However, he isn’t ready to take the next step in his career yet. The attacker needs regular game time to flourish, but having already got Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah and Leandro Trossard , the Gunners might not be able to provide him that if the youngster were to move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
So, although Hojlund would be a very good acquisition with the view of a long-term future, spending the reported £44m fee to sign him this summer might not be the right decision.
The north London club are reportedly looking to strengthen the midfield department for next season and are prioritising a move for Declan Rice – who would cost around £75m. So, I think instead of purchasing the Dane, saving the £44m fee to fund the Rice deal would be a wiser move.
However, it’s going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal will make a concrete approach to sign Hojlund at the end of this season.
