Arsenal plotting swoop for Crystal Palace ace Michael Olise
Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a swoop for Crystal Palace star Michael Olise this summer, as per 90min.
The Gunners have decided to spend big in this transfer window to strengthen the squad in order to bridge the gap with Manchester City ahead of crucial next season.
They have already invested £200m by purchasing Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz. But, Mikel Arteta has recently revealed that Arsenal won’t stop their spending spree just yet as the North London club are planning to sign more players before the end of this window.
It has been suggested that Arteta is keen on signing a new right-winger to support Bukayo Saka. The Gunners have been linked with a few options in recent times with Mohammed Kudus being mentioned as the primary target. But, Olise is now emerging as a serious option.
Olise to Arsenal
According to the report by 90min, Arsenal have registered their interest in signing Olise after being impressed by his creativity and they could make a concrete approach to purchase him over the coming days.
The report further claims that Olise has a £35m release clause included in his current contract so Arsenal could sign the Frenchman for an affordable fee if they formalise their interest.
However, 90min says that luring the 21-year-old away from Selhurst Park won’t be easy for Arsenal as Chelsea, Manchester City and PSG are also keen on acquiring his service this summer.
Olise enjoyed a stellar campaign for Crystal Palace last term, scoring twice and registering 11 assists in 37 Premier League appearances. So, it is not a surprise to see big English clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City are looking to sign him ahead of next season.
The forward is quick, strong, technically sound, can wriggle past opposition defenders in tight areas, has an eye for long-range passing, can create chances for fellow attackers and is also excellent in taking set-pieces.
Olise has already showcased glimpses of his talent during a very short spell at Selhurst Park so he would be a great signing for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his signature in this transfer window.
