Arsenal ready to announce Raya deal after selling Turner

By on August 7, 2023

Arsenal have reportedly agreed on a deal in principle with Brentford to sign David Raya and they are now waiting to sell Matt Turner before announcing the Spaniard’s arrival, as per Football Transfers.

The Gunners have been busy in this transfer window and have already purchased Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber to bolster their squad. However, it has been suggested that Mikel Arteta doesn’t want to halt the transfer business just yet as he is keen on adding more firepower before the end of this window.

Arsenal have prioritised signing a new shot-stopper before the season gets underway next weekend and have identified Raya as the primary option.

It has previously been reported The North London club have already submitted an official proposal worth up to £23m including bonuses to sign the Spain international after agreeing on personal terms with the player.

Now, according to the report by Football Transfers, Arsenal have already agreed on a deal in principle with Brentford to sign Raya and they are set to spend a fee of around £25-30m to acquire his service.

Raya to Arsenal

The report further claims that it is ‘a done deal’ and Arsenal are currently waiting to sell Turner in this transfer window before announcing the arrival of Raya.

Turner is reportedly set to join Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal this summer and he will undergo medical for Steve Cooper’s side today before the move gets finalised. So, it seems that Arsenal are on the verge of acquiring Raya’s service this summer to strengthen their goalkeeping department.

The 27-year-old is an extremely talented goalkeeper and has already showcased his qualities in the Premier League over the last few years. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal to beef up their goalkeeping department.

However, having already got Aaron Ramsdale – who displayed an excellent performance in Arsenal’s Community Shield victory over Manchester City this weekend – in the squad, it is going to be very interesting to see how Arteta can manage to keep both high-profile shot-stoppers happy by providing proper game-time to both of them next term.
