Arsenal tipped play Gabriel Magalhaes in every game
Ex-Gunner Kevin Campbell has urged Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to use William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes as the defensive pairing in ‘every game’ from now on.
Despite enjoying a stellar campaign with Saliba and Gabriel as the centre-backs last term, Arteta surprisingly opted to keep the Brazilian out in the first few games of this season.
However, following a disappointing draw against Fulham, the Gunners boss decided to bring Gabriel back into the starting eleven and straightaway he displayed an impressive performance in a 3-1 victory over Manchester United.
Now, speaking on The Gooner Pod YouTube channel, Campbell has said that Arsenal haven’t been able to display their best during the first few games of this season and the main reason behind that is Gabriel’s exclusion from the starting eleven.

The pundit further states that he wants to see Arteta deploying Saliba and Gabriel as the defensive pairing ‘every game’ from now on.
Campbell said:
“We have not played anywhere near the way we can play. For me, I want Gabriel and Saliba to play every game. I do, Mikel Arteta knows against certain teams you can get away with not playing Gabriel, and I’m sure there’ll be times Saliba doesn’t play.”
After moving to the Emirates Stadium back in 2020 from LOSC Lille in a £22m deal, Gabriel has established himself as an integral part of Arteta’s starting eleven over the last few years.
However, the Brazilian’s tendency to make errors seemingly forced the Gunner boss to change things a bit and see whether he has the necessary ammunition to field a team that can perform at the highest level and win games consistently without him. But, it quickly became apparent that Gabriel is currently irreplaceable.
So, the North Londoners will be hoping that the South American will be able to address his issue of making bad mistakes and perform at his best throughout the season to help the club achieve their lofty ambitions.
Meanwhile, following the conclusion of the international break, Arsenal will travel to Goodison Park to face off against Everton this weekend before commencing the Champions League campaign versus PSV Eindhoven next week. So, a busy run of fixtures is set to commence for Arsenal from now on.
