Arsenal interested in signing Leipzig star Dani Olmo

By on October 12, 2023

Arsenal have registered their interest in signing RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo in the upcoming transfer window, as per the Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.

After moving to the Red Bull Arena back in 2020 from Dinamo Zagreb, the 25-year-old has established himself as an integral part of Die Roten Bullen’s first eleven over the last few years, helping his side win a couple of DFB Pokal trophies and a German Super Cup.

The Spaniard has enjoyed a stellar start to this season, scoring five goals and registering a solitary assist in four appearances in all competitions. But, he is currently sidelined with a knee issue that he picked up last month, though he is set to return soon.

So, it appears having been impressed by Olmo’s displays in the German top-flight, several big European clubs have expressed their interest in signing him, including Arsenal.

While citing and translating the print version of Mundo Deportivo, Sport Witness states that Arsenal are interested in purchasing Olmo and they could opt to make a concrete approach next year.

Olmo to Arsenal

The report further claims that the 25-year-old has a £52m release clause included in his current contract so the Gunners will have to spend big to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.

However, Mundo Deportivo states that Real Madrid, Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea are also eyeing a swoop for him. In addition, the report says that the Citizens and Los Blancos are keen on signing Olmo. So, Arsenal are set to face a tough challenge from their rivals in getting any potential deal done for the Spain international.

It has previously been reported that Olmo could move away next summer so Arsenal can manage to acquire his service ahead of next season should they formalise their interest and beat their rivals in this race.

Olmo is a versatile player as he is comfortable playing anywhere across the attacking midfield position. The midfielder possesses the necessary qualities to play in Mikel Arteta’s system so he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they sign him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to lure the Leipzig star to the Emirates Stadium next year.
