Arsenal register interest in signing Victor Boniface
Arsenal have reportedly registered their interest in signing Bayer Leverkusen star Victor Boniface in this transfer window, as per the Spanish outlet Fichajes.
Having moved to BayArena last summer, the 23-year-old has enjoyed a stellar debut campaign for Xavi Alonso’s side this term, scoring 16 goals and registering eight assists in 23 appearances in all competitions.
Leverkusen has currently placed themselves at the top of the Bundesliga table with 42 points from 16 games and the Nigerian has played a key role for the German side in their impressive first half of this term.
So, it appears Boniface’s recent excellent performances have attracted the attention of Arsenal’s recruitment team so they have expressed their interest in signing the African.
The Gunners have seemingly been exploring the possibility of strengthening their frontline in the winter window to help Mikel Arteta mount a title charge in the second half of this season.
Boniface to Arsenal
Several names have been mentioned as potential targets for the North London club with Ivan Toney being suggested as the primary option, but Boniface is now emerging as a key target.
According to the report by Fichajes, Arsenal are ready to splash the cash once again in January to bolster the squad in order to challenge on all fronts this term and have identified Boniface as a serious option.
The report further claims that Arteta has been impressed by Boniface’s all-round ability to create opportunities for fellow teammates and also his poacher instinct inside the box. So, the North London club could look to sign the Leverkusen star in this winter window.
Boniface – valued at around £35m by Transfermarkt – still has more than four and a half years left in his current contract. So, Leverkusen aren’t in any rush to let their star man leave, therefore, Arsenal will have to offer a lucrative proposal to persuade the German club to cash-in on him in January.
Boniface, standing at 6ft 4in tall, is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has the ability to play threading passes between the lines, can create chances for fellow attackers and also can finish off his chances.
So, Boniface could be a great coup for Arsenal to strengthen their attack in this transfer window if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to formalise their interest in acquiring his service this month.
