Arsenal urged to sign PSG star Goncalo Ramos
Arsenal have been urged to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Goncalo Ramos to bolster their frontline, as per The Express.
After displaying promising performances for SL Benfica, the 22-year-old burst onto the scene last year. He attracted a lot of attention from several big clubs around Europe with Manchester United among those registered their interest in signing him, but Les Parisiens eventually managed to secure his signature in a £69m deal.
However, things haven’t gone according to the plan for Ramos at the Parc des Princes as he has been struggling to break into Luis Enrique’s starting eleven this term.
According to the report by The Express, it doesn’t look likely Ramos would leave PSG this month but if he continues to struggle over the coming months at the French capital then the striker could be available for a ‘palatable’ fee next summer.
So, the report claims that considering Arsenal’s two primary striker targets, Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen, are expected to cost over £100m, Ramos would be a ‘wise’ signing for the North London club if they purchase him.
Ramos to Arsenal
It has been suggested that the North London club have been exploring the possibility of strengthening their frontline by purchasing a new prolific centre-forward.
Ramos is a talented player and previously displayed his qualities at the Portuguese top-flight. In addition, he showcased his abilities on the international stage, scoring a hat-trick against Switzerland in the last 16 of the Qatar World Cup. So, he could be a shrewd signing for the North London club to reinforce their frontline if they purchase him.
However, considering the striker’s recent underwhelming performances, there is a question mark whether he possesses the necessary qualities to help Arsenal achieve their lofty ambitions.
So, Arsenal would be better off going all-out to sign Toney or Osimhen over Ramos to bolster their attacking department. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign the Portugal international.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will return to action after the winter break when they welcome Crystal Palace in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.
