Arsenal have received a huge boost in pursuit of Napoli star Victor Osimhen as the Nigerian is set to move away from Stadio Diego Armando Maradona at the end of this season, as per the Italian journalist Ciro Venerato.

The Gunners have seemingly been exploring the possibility of signing a new prolific striker. They have recently been linked with numerous options with Ivan Toney and Osimhen being mentioned as the primary targets.

However, neither of them are reportedly available in January. So, it appears Arsenal will have to wait until the end of this season to bolster their attacking department.

Venerato has reported on Rai’s TG Sport(via Calcio Napoli 24) that Osimhen is ‘set to leave’ Napoli at the end of this season to take a new challenge in his career and the Premier League is his likeliest destination.

The journalist further claims that Arsenal are keen on signing him so the striker could end up at the Emirates Stadium next summer. However, Venerato states that Chelsea are also eyeing a swoop for him so Arsenal are set to face tough competition from their rivals in getting any potential deal done for the striker.

Osimhen to Arsenal

It has been reported that Osimhen has a release clause worth around £113m included in his current contract so Arsenal will have to break the bank to lure the striker away from the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Napoli usually play hardball to sell their assets so it seems likely that Arsenal won’t get any discount for Osimhen and they will have to spend the reported £113m fee to sign the striker next summer if they formalise their interest.

Osimhen has showcased glimpses of his qualities in the Italian top-flight in recent times, helping The Azzurri win the Scudetto last term. He is deemed one of the best strikers in the world at the moment so the African would be a great coup for the North London club should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club can manage to secure Osimhen’s signature if he eventually leaves Napoli at the end of this campaign.
