Arsenal plotting double swoop for Pacho & Larsson

Mikel Arteta Arsenal

Arsenal are reportedly plotting a double swoop for Eintracht Frankfurt star Willian Pacho and Hugo Larsson, as per the German outlet Sport Bild.

The Gunners reportedly wanted to strengthen the squad in this winter window to provide Mikel Arteta with enough resources to mount a title charge this term. However, they couldn’t manage to make that wish to fruition as their winter budget has been restricted due to FFP regulations.

So, it appears Arsenal will have to wait until the summer to add more firepower to their squad. It has been suggested that Arteta wants a new defensive midfielder to push Declan Rice into the holding midfield position.

Although they have Thomas Partey at their disposal, the African is said to be sold next summer as he has struggled with several injury problems in recent times.

In addition, Jakub Kiwior has found it difficult to showcase his best for Arsenal after joining the club last summer. So, it seems Arteta’s side are open to letting him leave as he has been linked with a move away from the club in recent times.

Arsenal eyeing a double swoop

According to the report by Bild, Arsenal are planning to strengthen their defence and engine room next summer and have identified Pacho and Larsson as serious targets.

The report further claims that the North London club have been keeping a close eye on the development of both players before making a potential swoop next summer.

Frankfurt reportedly don’t want to lose their star duo but if they are forced to cash-in then they want at least £51m for Pacho and £69m for Larsson. So, Arsenal will have to spend a combined fee of around £120m to lure the duo to the Emirates Stadium during the off-season.

Pacho is only 22, while Larsson is only 19. However, despite their tender age, they have already managed to secure their place in Frankfurt’s starting eleven this term.

The Frankfurt duo are highly talented players and possess the potential to become top-class. So, they would be shrewd signings for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future if they purchase them.

It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to push forward with a deal to sign Pacho and Larsson despite Frankfurt’s inflated valuation.
