Arsenal considering signing Girona star Miguel Gutierrez
Arsenal are reportedly contemplating a swoop for Girona star Miguel Gutierrez in the upcoming transfer window, as per the Spanish journalist Javier Rodriguez Pascual.
It seems the Gunners want to sign a new left-sided defender to support Oleksandr Zinchenko as they have been linked with a few names in recent times with Gutierrez now emerging as a serious option.
Having joined Michel’s side from Real Madrid during the summer of 2022, the 21-year-old has established himself as an integral part of the Catalan club’s first eleven in recent times, helping his side mount a title charge this term.
So, it appears having been impressed by the Spaniard’s recent eye-catching performances, Arsenal have registered their interest in signing him to reinforce the backline.
According to the report by Javier Rodriguez Pascual, Arsenal have expressed their interest in signing Gutierrez and they could make a swoop for him next summer. The journalist further claims that the Girona star has a £30m release clause included in his current contract so Arsenal will have to spend a sizable amount of money to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.
Gutierrez to Arsenal
However, Rodríguez Pascual states that Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester City have also registered their interest in signing him. In addition, the journalist says that Real Madrid have an option to buy-back the defender for a fee of just around £7m and the defender dreams of flourishing his career at Los Blancos. So, Arsenal are set to face tough competition from their rivals in getting any potential deal done for the 21-year-old.
Gutierrez is quick, technically sound, has the ability to play as an inverted fullback, is efficient in defensive contributions and is also excellent going forward.
The youngster is a highly talented player and possesses the potential to become a top-class fullback going forward. In addition, he has the necessary qualities to play in Arteta’s possession-based system so he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they secure his signature.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club can eventually manage to purchase Gutierrez if they formalise their interest in acquiring his service during the off-season.
