Arsenal transfer target Pablo Maia reveals his ambition to play in England
Pablo Maia, an Arsenal transfer target and Sao Paulo midfielder, has confessed to The Daily Mail that he wants to move to the Premium League.
Despite being only 22 years old, the Brazilian is developing into one of the hottest midfield talents in South America. Looking at WhoScored’s description of his style of play, Maia is described as a great passer, with the ability to win aerial duels, a preference for long shots, and a high degree of concentration. It’s also noteworthy that they believe he has no significant weaknesses.
That is surely a player that big European clubs should be keeping an eye on. The Daily Mail, who recently interviewed him, reports that Arsenal, West Ham, and Fulham are all interested in signing Maia.
Arsenal need a top defensive midfielder, as Thomas Partey, as reported by Galetti in his Caught Offside column, could leave in the summer. That, plus the idea that giving Declan Rice a free role will help him realise his full potential, supports the theory that Arsenal could profit from signing a defensive midfielder in the summer.
Pablo Maia might be the midfielder to come and take over the No. 6 role at Arsenal. And, given that Brazilian talent such as Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Jesus, and Gabriel Martinelli have already demonstrated their ability to excel at the Emirates, he will find it easy to join and adjust to the responsibilities of being a Gunner.
Maia on moving to the PL
The player has now opened the door to joining Arsenal after confirming it’s his ‘dream’ to play in the Premier League. Maia also revealed that there has been plenty of interest from England, including an offer from an unnamed club.
“I heard about an offer from an English club to Sao Paulo FC, and then another club inquired about a loan deal two windows back,” Maia said on the Daily Mail.
“The Premier League is played at the highest technical and intense level in the world, with players accustomed to the Champions League and World Cup.
“It’s a league that we dream of, set as a goal. Whenever I can, I watch the games and analyse how players in my position perform.”
According to Transfermarkt, he is worth roughly £9 million; therefore, he could be a bargain signing for Arsenal if he ends up moving to North London this summer.
