Arsenal seriously considering swoop to sign Adrien Rabiot
Arsenal are ‘seriously’ considering a swoop to sign Adrien Rabiot at the end of the season as he contemplates a move away from Juventus, according to Corriere dello Sport via Tuttomercatoweb.
Rabiot has developed into a top class midfielder since joining Juve from PSG. He previously demonstrated his talent in the French Ligue 1 and has been impressive in Italy’s Serie A, but it appears he could be ready to test himself in the Premier League.
A proposed transfer to Manchester United fell through in 2022, however, last year, he was expected to become a free agent and was heavily linked with a move to many Premier League clubs.
However, a move failed to materialise and he signed a fresh one-year contract with Juventus that expires in the summer. Rabiot will become a free agent in June, and understandably there are several clubs showing a keen interest.
Rabiot’s moment of truth
Corriere dello Sport, as cited by TuttoMercatoWeb, claims Arsenal are showing a serious interest in signing Rabiot but face competiton from Liverpool and Tottenham if he opts to come to England.
Juventus haven’t given up hope of persuading the Frenchman to sign another contract in Turin and will open talks soon, but Rabiot will have plenty of offers from abroad if he wants a new challenge.
Arsenal should come up with an enticing offer and present it to the 28-year-old and his entourage. Considering the player’s current situation, he must consider carefully about his next move and the impact it may have on his career. This might be his final opportunity to make a headline move, considering his age.
I feel this might just be the year for Rabiot to make a move to the Premier League. Hopefully, Arsenal manages to persuade him to come to the Emirates as he’d be a terrific signing. He’s valued at around £34m by Transfermarkt so he’d be a bargain if Arsenal could snap him up for nothing.
At Arsenal, I feel he would assume the left-sided No. 8 role. According to WhoScored, he has no major weaknesses, excels in aerial duels, is skilled at tackling, and maintains focus without losing concentration. Those traits hint that he could be the ultimate replacement for Granit Xhaka. Some Gooners are still missing what Xhaka offered in Arsenal’s midfield.
Rabiot has 6 goals and 5 assists in 36 games this season; his goal contributions could really boost Arsenal if they manage to sign him. Arsenal’s midfield is still a work in progress and Mikel Arteta needs to bring in another option in the summer.
