Arsenal to reignite interest in signing Mykhailo Mudryk
Arsenal are reportedly planning to reignite their interest in signing Chelsea attacker Mykhailo Mudryk this summer, as per the Spanish outlet Fichajes.
The Gunners prioritised signing the Ukrainian to reinforce their frontline last year and even submitted an official proposal to secure his signature. However, the Blues tabled a higher proposal worth around £87m and Shakhtar Donetsk eventually opted to accept the West London club’s offer. So, Mudryk moved to Stamford Bridge.
The 23-year-old looked promising for Chelsea in the first few games but the Blues have struggled in recent times and as a result, Mudryk has failed to flourish his career at the West London club.
Now, according to the report by Fichajes, following Mudryk’s struggle to perform at his best in the Premier League, Chelsea are open to letting him leave the club. The report further claims that Mauricio Pochettino’s side may look to loan Mudryk out this summer but they could cash-in if they receive a suitable proposal.
Fichajes states that Arsenal have been showing an interest in signing him and they are the ‘main candidates’ to secure the forward’s signature. However, the Spanish outlet says that Juventus are also keen on acquiring his service so Arsenal are set to face stiff competition from the Bianconeri in getting any potential deal done.
Mudryk to Arsenal
Chelsea are highly unlikely to be able to recoup the money that they spent to sign Mudryk last year. Mudryk is currently valued at just £34m by Transfermarkt so Arsenal could manage to purchase the winger in a cut-price deal if they formalise their interest.
Mudryk is quick and works extremely hard without possession so he could be more suited to play in Mikel Arteta’s high-pressing system. The forward is a talented player and possesses high potential, however, he isn’t ready to play at this level yet.
So, if Mudryk were to join Arsenal then he would have the time to learn his traits as Gabriel Martinelli is the first choice option and the Ukrainian would be used as the second fiddle.
However, Chelsea might look to generate a sizable amount of money from Mudryk’s departure. But it would be risky for Arsenal to spend a large amount of money on him, considering he has found it difficult to showcase his best in the Premier League in recent times.
So, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign Mudryk ahead of next season.
