Nketiah warned his time is up as Arsenal make plans for the summer
Arsenal have told Eddie Nketiah he is free to find a new club as the Gunners prepare to cash-in this summer to fund their move for a top class striker, according to Teamtalk.
If there is one deal that Arsenal fans are looking forward to, it is the signing of a clinical striker. Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal’s main strikers, have proven inconsistent. Nkeitah has scored just five Premier League goals – which includes a hat-trick against Sheffield United – while Jesus has netted just four times in his 19 league appearances.
Most agree that Arsenal need a clinical striker to take them to the next level and the club have been linked with a host of players including Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyökeres. However, in order to make room for a new frontman, Arsenal need to offload one of their current crop.
According to TeamTalk, Mikel Arteta believes Nketiah is a player he can afford to lose this summer. In fact, the story says that the Hale End graduate would have gone in January, but the team was unable to find a suitable replacement.
The report states that while the player wishes to fight for his spot, Arsenal have told him to find a new club this summer as they hope to use the funds raised from his sale to buy a new top class forward. Nketiah is valued at £30m by Transfermarkt and as an academy graduate, all the money can be booked as profit on the accounts.
Where does Nketiah go next?
Teamtalk says he wants to stay in London. They believe Crystal Palace, who inquired about him in January, leads the race. Brentford and Fulham are also interested but it’s Palace who appear the most likely to sign Nketiah.
The £100k-a-week star’s agents are working behind the scenes to establish where their client will play next season. He could opt to stay at Arsenal until his contract expires in 2027, but given his potential and ambitions, he is likely to leave.
With a top striker signing expected, Nketiah may have no future at the Emirates Stadium. It’s unfortunate that he wasn’t able to establish himself in this Arsenal team, but all the Gooners can do is wish him the best if he leaves.
