Arsenal make contact to sign Rodrygo this summer

By on March 21, 2024

Arsenal have reportedly made contact with Real Madrid over a deal to sign Rodrygo this summer, as per the Spanish outlet Sport.

After joining Los Blancos back in 2019, the 23-year-old has established himself as an integral part of Carlo Ancelotti’s starting eleven in recent years.

However, while citing and translating the print version of Sport, Sport Witness has reported that although Rodrygo is keen on staying at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, he is concerned about his spot in Real Madrid’s starting eleven as Endrick is set to join the club this summer with Kylian Mbappe also likely to sign ahead of next season.

The report further claims that Arsenal are interested in signing him by taking advantage of these circumstances and have already made contact with Real Madrid to learn about his current situation.

Sport further claims that Real Madrid don’t want to let him leave for cheap if they eventually decide to cash-in and want at least £85m. So, the Gunners will have to splash a huge fee to lure the Brazilian to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

However, the report states that Liverpool are also keen on signing him and they have also held talks with Real Madrid over this deal. In addition, Manchester United are also in the mix to sign the 23-year-old this summer so the North London club will have to overcome stiff competition from their rivals in getting any potential deal done for him.

Rodrygo is comfortable playing anywhere across the frontline, however, he likes to be deployed on the flanks. With Arsenal lacking quality options after the first-choice wingers, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, signing a new attacker to add depth in this position would be a shrewd decision.

The Real Madrid star is a highly talented player and possesses the potential to become one of the best players in the world going forward. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to acquire his service in the upcoming transfer window to reinforce their frontline.
