Arsenal eye swoop for Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White

According to The Daily Star, PL title contenders Arsenal could bolster their squad this summer by signing Nottingham Forest attacker Morgan Gibbs-White.

Forest found themselves in an uncomfortable situation last week. The Premier League docked them four points for violating their financial rules and regulations. Losing these points saw Forest drop to the relegation zone.

To further balance their books, Nuno Espirito Santo’s team may need to cash in on some of their stars this summer. And Arsenal have their eyes on their record signing, Morgan Gibbs-White – who moved to the City Ground from Wolves for £42.5 million in 2022.

Gibbs-White has been a revelation at the City Ground, and his brilliance has made him a fan favourite. It would be a significant loss if they lost him, but they are likely to do so given the situation they’re in and Arsenal’s interest in their star man.

So, with Arsenal interested and Forest forced to contemplate selling Gibbs-White, would he be willing to make the move?

One can imagine he’d like to play alongside Bukayo Saka. In an interview with PL Productions last October, he waxed lyrical about Saka. He singled out Arsenal’s star boy as one of the world’s best, emphasizing how outstanding his technique is and how dependable he is, and even speculated on how dedicated Arsenal’s No. 7 must be to training. He said:

“Bukayo [Saka] for me is at the minute one of the best players in the world.

“I just think with Bukayo, he doesn’t go out of his comfort zone; he knows what he’s good at.

“He’s mastered it, and it works every time; cut inside on your left, boom, goal; he must practice it every single day in training.”

These claims could suggest that Gibbs-White would be eager to play alongside Saka. However, it remains uncertain whether Arsenal will formalise their interest and get a deal done.

Transfermarkt estimates Gibbs-White worth at roughly £34 million, but Forest may demand more than that to lose their best player this summer, even if they are relegated to the Championship.
