Arsenal plotting summer swoop to sign Alexander Isak
Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a swoop to sign Newcastle United star Alexander Isak this summer, as per The Sun.
After moving to St James’ Park from Real Sociedad ahead of last season, the 24-year-old has enjoyed a stellar time in the Premier League, helping his side qualify for the Champions League last term.
The Swedish international has continued to perform at his best this season despite Newcastle’s struggles, scoring 14 goals and registering a solitary assist in 21 league appearances.
So, it seems having been impressed by the forward’s recent performances in the English top-flight, several upper echelons of English teams have expressed their intentions of signing him, including Arsenal.
Now, according to the report by The Sun, Arsenal are interested in signing Isak and they could formalise their interest in the upcoming transfer window. The report further claims that Eddie Howe is keen on keeping hold of the Swedish international, but Newcastle could be forced to cash-in on him to stay on the right side of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.
Isak to Arsenal
Therefore, Mikel Arteta’s side could manage to acquire his service this summer but it has been reported Newcastle want a fee of around £100m for Isak so the Gunners will have to break the bank to lure the striker to the Emirates Stadium.
Meanwhile, The Sun says that Tottenham are also keen on signing Isak so it won’t be easy for Arteta’s side to secure the 24-year-old’s signature this summer.
Isak is a versatile player as he is a centre-forward by traits but can also be deployed in the left-wing position. He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas and also has the efficiency of finishing off his chances.
Isak is a talented player and could be an excellent signing for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, the forward has had some fitness problems in recent times so the North London club should be careful before making any potential swoop. It is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign Isak in the upcoming window.
