Arsenal the ‘perfect project’ for Joshua Zirkzee to join
Arsenal are the ‘perfect project’ for Joshua Zirkzee with the Gunners expected to be serious suitors for the Bologna man this summer, according to the Gazetta dello Sport via Sports Witness.
The Italian magazine was responding to AC Milan’s attempt to sign a quality striker this summer. They say the Rossoneri like Zirkzee and want to persuade Bologna to sell them their star.
They are desperate to close that deal quickly before other teams enter the scene. For the deal, they’re offering to pay Bologna £43 million plus Alexis Saelemaekers.
However, their bid is expected to fall short, as the Serie A club wants at least £60 million to let their talisman leave as they are using Rasmus Hojlunds move to Man Utd as a reference point.
With this hefty asking price, AC Milan’s chances of closing a deal are slim, and Gazetta believes that clubs such as Arsenal will blow the Italians out the water with mega bids for the Dutchman.
Arsenal favorites for Zirkzee
Arsenal may be able to pull off this headline swoop because of their financial muscle, their progress in Europe (making it to the Champions League quarterfinals and potentially beyond), and their performance in the Premier League.
The report says this quality Arsenal side are the ‘perfect project’ for Zirkzee and a move would be ‘irresistible’ if a big offer is put forward to the player [and Bologna]. However, Real Madrid and PSG are also named as serious suitors along with Arsenal.
The Serie A striker is not yet a prolific goal scorer, with 10 goals in 28 league games, but with his imposing presence on the pitch, many believe he has a lot of untapped potential.
Arsenal are playing great football, but they lack a top-tier No. 9 to spearhead their attack. Arteta is expected to fill that void this summer and Zirkzee has been touted as a top target for the Gunners boss.
