Arsenal ready to pay £95m to sign Eduardo Camavinga
According to Defensa Central, Real Madrid’s French midfield prodigy, Eduardo Camavinga, has emerged as an Arsenal target for the summer.
A year after paying £105 million for Declan Rice to join their squad, the Gunners are still looking to bolster their engine room. Initially signed to play in midfield, Kai Havertz has, in recent weeks, been impressing in a central striker role.
Arteta still needs to fill the void Xhaka left in midfield. Plans to recruit a top midfielder are under way, with David Ornstein saying the Arsenal boss is still deciding who to sign between a No. 6 and a No. 8.
Camavinga to Arsenal
As the Arsenal manager ponders which midfielder he wants, Defensa Central says that Eduardo Camavinga of Real Madrid has emerged as a target for Arsenal. According to the report, the Gunners believe the Frenchman can prosper in the Premier League and are willing to pay £95 million for his signature.
It’s interesting that the Gunners are willing to spend so much on another midfielder just a year after paying £100m for Rice. However, Camavinga would be a sensational signing if the North Londoners could pull it off.
Carlo Ancelotti insists the Frenchman is a vital player for the European giants but Camavinga is yet to nail down a regular starting spot in his first team. And the report says if the Frenchman doesn’t start against Man City in the Champions League this week, they feel they have a chance of luring him away from the Bernabeu this summer.
Camavinga is best suited to left-sided centre midfield; however, as versatile as he is, he has shown usefulness at left back on a handful of occasions when not playing in midfield.
At Arsenal, he might be the ultimate Granit Xhaka heir; he could play as the left-sided No. 8, Declan Rice could play at No. 6, and Odegaard could play as the right-sided No. 8.
A Rice-Camavinga-Odegaard midfield could be a mouth-watering prospect and Madrid may be willing to cash-in if £95m is put on the table as they need to raise funds for their expensive swoop for Kylian Mbappe.
