Arsenal considering signing Hugo Larsson this summer
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Larsson this summer, as per the German outlet Bild.
The Gunners are reportedly set to prioritise strengthening their engine room in the upcoming transfer window. So, they have been exploring the market over the last few months and as a result, Mikel Arteta’s side have been linked with numerous names in recent times.
Douglas Luiz, Amadou Onana and Martin Zubimendi have been suggested as serious targets, however, the North London club have also been keeping an eye on young talents with Georgiy Sudakov being among them. But, it seems Larsson is on their radar as well.
Now, while citing and translating the print version of Bild, Sport Witness has reported that Arsenal have expressed their interest in signing Larsson and they could make a concrete approach to acquire his service this summer.
The report further claims that after joining the German side last summer, the 19-year-old has enjoyed a promising campaign this term so his value has increased significantly in recent times – which is currently at around £26m. So, the Gunners will have to splash a sizable amount of money to lure the midfielder to the Emirates Stadium during the off-season.
Larsson to Arsenal
It has been suggested that Larsson idolises Declan Rice and the player has previously revealed that his ‘dream’ is to play in the Premier League. So, the North London club could manage to persuade him to join the club should they formalise their interest.
Larsson is a talented player and possesses high potential so he would be a shrewd signing for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future. However, the Swedish isn’t ready yet to showcase his best at the highest level, so he needs time to develop his career if he joins Arteta’s side ahead of next season.
Therefore, Arsenal would be better off signing an experienced midfielder as well to help them achieve their lofty ambitions next season if they purchase Larsson. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to acquire the 19-year-old’s service this summer.
