Arsenal interested in signing Man City star Bernardo Silva
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City star Bernardo Silva this summer, as per the Spanish outlet Fichajes.
After moving to the Etihad Stadium from AS Monaco back in 2017, the 29-year-old has enjoyed great success with the Citizens over the last few years, winning several Premier League titles, a Champion League trophy and numerous cup competitions.
Mikel Arteta worked with the Portuguese a couple of years during his time at Man City as Pep Guardiola’s assistant and it seems he now wants to reunite with his former colleague at the Emirates Stadium.
According to the report by Fichajes, Silva is increasingly likely to leave Man City at the end of this season and several clubs around Europe have started queuing up to secure his signature with Arsenal among those to have registered their interest.
The report further claims that the 29-year-old has a £50m release clause included in his current contract so Arsenal could manage to purchase him for a reasonable fee if they manage to persuade him to move to the Emirates Stadium.
Silva to Arsenal
However, Fichajes states that Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on signing him so the Gunners are set to face fierce competition from their rivals in getting any potential deal done for him.
Silva is a versatile player as he can play anywhere across the middle of the park and in addition, he can also play in the right flank and the false nine position. He is technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, can finish off his chances, has the efficiency of creating opportunities for the attackers and also works extremely hard without possession.
It was reported last summer that Saudi Arabian clubs expressed their interest in signing him, but the Citizens eventually managed to keep hold of their star man so a deal didn’t materialise.
However, Barcelona are seemingly the most interested club in signing Silva if he leaves Man City this summer so Arsenal might eventually not be able to purchase him.
Nevertheless, the Man City star is a world-class player and has already showcased his qualities at the highest level over the last few years. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they somehow manage to secure his signature in the upcoming window.
