Estevao Willian Palmeiras

According to journalist Thiago Fernandes, Arsenal have entered the competition to capture Brazilian prodigy Estevao Willian, as reported by Arsenal Insider.

For the past year, the 17-year-old Palmeiras forward has received high accolades. ‘Messinho’, as Estevao is known, has enjoyed a breakout season on the Brazilian football scene. Endrick may be the hottest thing coming out of Brazil, but football analysts who follow Brazilian football believe Estavao is on par with the Real Madrid-bound prospect.

Though he has yet to establish a spot in Palmeiras’ starting 11, he has shown promise, or at least his numbers say so; in eight appearances for Palmeiras this year, he has scored four goals; sooner or later, having him on the bench will be criminal. Notably, Palmeiras’ head of youth, Joao Paulo Sampaio, described him as an out-of-this-world talent.

“One thing these kinds of players have is a strong personality, a big ego to say, ‘I am, I can, and I will’. And they do it,” Sampaio told FIFA of the teenager.

“For these out-of-this-world talents, things come easy. It’s difficult for your average player, who make up the vast majority.”

Estevao, the next Brazilian Gunner

Now it seems Arsenal wants the extraordinary Estevao as the next Brazilian talent to grace the Emirates Stadium. The Palmeiras star’s compatriots Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli are all regulars for Arsenal, and Estavao could be set to follow them to North London.

However, the Gunners aren’t the only club interested as the report says the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid are also keeping an eye on the South American. Arsenal fans will hope Sporting Director Edu will be able to use his connections in Brazilian to win the race.

According to reports, Arsenal are looking for a winger in addition to a top striker this summer, and Estavao could emerge as a target. Though they may not get him for the bargain £6 million they spent to land Martinelli, Arsenal know they will probably have to pay a premium to get a deal agreed with Palmeiras.
