Arsenal ‘on the trail’ of Juventus star Andrea Cambiaso
Arsenal are reportedly ‘on the trail’ of Juventus star Andrea Cambiaso to sign him this summer, as per the Italian outlet Tutto Juve.
After narrowly missing out on winning the title this term, the Gunners are reportedly set to remain busy in the upcoming transfer window to reinforce the squad in order to bridge the gap with Manchester City.
Signing a new striker and midfielder to bolster the frontline and the engine room is reportedly Mikel Arteta’s priority. But, purchasing a new left-back is seemingly also on the Spanish boss’ agenda as Arsenal have been linked with a few names in recent times. Miguel Gutierrez, Ferdi Kadioglu and Jorrel Hato have all been mentioned as serious targets but Cambiaso is now emerging as a new key option.
After coming through Genoa’s youth system, the 24-year-old joined the Bianconeri back in 2022. Upon moving to the Allianz Stadium, the Italian went out on loan to Bologna last season before establishing himself as a regular starter for Juventus this season.
After displaying glimpses of his qualities for the Bianconeri, the defender was called up for the Italian squad in the March international break and is expected to be in the provisional team for the upcoming Euro 24.
Cambiaso to Arsenal
Now, according to the report by Tutto Juve, Arsenal are interested in signing Cambiaso and they are currently ‘on the trail’ of him. However, the report states that purchasing the 24-year-old won’t be easy for Arteta’s side as Manchester United are also keen on signing him.
But, Tutto Juve claims that Juventus don’t want to sell their star man yet and they will hold talks with the player’s representatives over a new deal. So, Arsenal will have to offer a lucrative proposal to persuade Juventus to cash-in.
Cambiaso – valued at around £21m by Transfermarkt – is comfortable on both feet and can play in either fullback position. He is quick, comfortable playing out from the back, has an eye for long-range passing and is also efficient in defensive contributions.
He is a talented player and could be a shrewd signing for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign him to reinforce their backline.
