Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Newcastle United ace Alexander Isak is the ‘dream’ target for Arsenal to reinforce their frontline this summer.

After poor displays from Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah in the recently concluded season, the Gunners are reportedly prioritising strengthening their attacking department by signing a new prolific goal-scorer in the upcoming window.

Numerous strikers have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the last few weeks with Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen and Joshua Zirkzee being among them.

However, speaking to JD Football, Romano has reported that apart from the aforementioned names, Arsenal are also interested in signing Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres.

But, the journalist says that Isak could be the Gunners’ ‘dream target’ to bolster their attacking department this summer, however, Romano states that Arsenal might find it difficult to secure the 24-year-old’s signature as he is likely to remain at Newcastle.

Isak to Arsenal

Romano said:

“They still need a proper number nine. Sesko is a name in the list, Viktor Gyokeres has been fantastic this season in Portugal. The dream target could be Alexander Isak at Newcastle, but I don’t think he’s going to leave the club.”

It has been suggested that Newcastle’s summer budget has been hamstrung by FFP regulations so they need to sell one of their big stars in the off-season to raise funds in order to sign some new players.

However, the Magpies are seemingly keen on keeping hold of Isak as they have slapped a whopping £180m price tag on his head to fend off any potential suitors.

The Swedish international has already showcased his qualities in the Premier League this season, scoring 21 goals and registering two assists in 30 league appearances. He is a versatile player as he can play in the left flank as well as the number nine role.

He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, is efficient in linking-up the play and also has the efficiency of finishing off his chances.

So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal to reinforce their attack if they purchase him. However, it doesn’t look likely that the North London club would be able to sign their ‘dream target’ in the upcoming transfer window.
