Arsenal eyeing audacious swoop to sign Leroy Sane

By on July 30, 2024

Arsenal are reportedly planning to make an audacious swoop to sign Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane this summer, as per the German football expert Florian Plettenberg.

After making David Raya’s loan deal permanent, the Gunners have purchased Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna to bolster the backline in this transfer window. However, Mikel Arteta wants to sign a new midfielder but signing a new right-winger to support Bukayo Saka is on his agenda as well.

The North London club have been linked with a few attackers over the last few weeks with Nico Williams, Pedro Neto and Raphinha being among them.

However, writing on X, Plettenberg has now reported that Arsenal have identified Sane as a serious option and are currently closely monitoring his situation before making a potential swoop this summer.

The journalist further claims that the German has entered the final year of his current contract but isn’t close to signing a new deal yet. So, speculation surrounding his future has started to emerge in recent times.

Sane to Arsenal

However, it is highly unlikely that the forward will leave Bayern Munich this summer as the player is currently focused on playing for the Bavarian club.

However, the German football expert has reported that Arteta has a ‘great relationship’ with Sane and that could help Arsenal broker this deal should they push forward to secure his signature over the coming days.

Plettenberg wrote:

“The tendency is that Leroy Sané will not leave FC Bayern in the summer! Sané is fully focused on Bayern and on a possible contract extension beyond 2025. But an extension is not in the final stages yet. Therefore, Arsenal is closely monitoring Sané’s situation. He’s on their list. Arteta and Sané have a great relationship!”

The 28-year-old, valued at around £59m by Transfermarkt, is a right-winger by traits but can also play in the opposite flank. He is technically sound and has already showcased his qualities at the highest level over the last few years. Additionally, he is a Premier League proven player, so he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him before the end of this window.
