Arsenal predicted line-up against Brighton & Hove Albion

By on August 31, 2024

Arsenal Kai Havertz Mikel Arteta

Arsenal have enjoyed a promising start to this season as after defeating Wolverhampton Wanderers in the opening Premier League fixture, they have also beaten Aston Villa last weekend.

The most impressive part about these two wins is that they didn’t concede any goal and they are one of the few teams – who have enjoyed a perfect start.

On the other hand, Brighton have also won both of their games, beating Everton and Manchester United. So, it is going to be a mouth-watering clash at lunchtime at the Emirates Stadium.

Team news

Arsenal have suffered a huge injury blow ahead of this encounter as new signing Mikel Merino has fractured his shoulder and is set to remain sidelined over the next few weeks. Moreover, Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu remain sidelined with their respective injury problems.

Predicted line-up

Following Aaron Ramsdale’s departure, Arsenal have signed Neto from Bournemouth but he is not eligible to be in the matchday squad in this game. However, that wouldn’t make much of a difference as David Raya will continue between the sticks.

Arsenal have a settled centre-back partnership of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes and the duo is set to commence in this encounter with Ben White in the right-back position.

Meanwhile, Oleksandr Zinchenko started in the left-back position versus Wolverhampton Wanderers but Jurrien Timber was given the nod against Aston Villa and it is likely that the Dutchman could keep hold of his place in the starting eleven for the Gunners this weekend. So, new summer signing Riccardo Calafiori is likely to feature off the bench.

Following Merino’s injury, Arteta is expected to continue with the same midfield that started last week so Thomas Partey, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard should start. Therefore, Jorginho will have to settle for a place on the bench.

Not much rotation is expected in the frontline either, especially given it’s only one game a week at the moment. So, Gabriel Martinelli could commence in the left flank, while Bukayo Saka will be on the opposite side. Kai Havertz will continue in the centre-forward position. So, Leandro Trossard would feature off the bench.

Predicted Arsenal line-up vs Brighton:

Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Timber; Rice, Partey, Odegaard; Martinelli, Havertz, Saka
