Arsenal interested in signing Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing AFC Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez, as per the transfer insider Dean Jones.
The Gunners’ left side of defence has been in a state of flux in recent years as Oleksandr Zinchenko was Mikel Arteta’s first-choice left-back following his arrival from Manchester City back in 2022.
However, the Ukrainian’s frailties in defensive contributions have forced Arteta to find a different solution. Jakub Kiwior was used in a few games last term but he hasn’t been able to win the Spanish boss’ trust.
Takehiro Tomiyasu was deployed as a left-back in several games last term, while Jurrien Timber has played a couple of games in this position this term. But, both players are more comfortable playing on the opposite side.
Riccardo Calafiori has joined the club this summer and is expected to be the option to resolve Arsenal’s issues at the left side of defence but he hasn’t been able to secure his place in Arteta’s starting eleven yet.
Kerkez to Arsenal
Unfortunately, the Italian has sustained an injury during international duty and the Gunners fans will be hoping that his issue isn’t anything serious and he will be ready to play the next game against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
Now, writing on GiveMeSport, Jones has reported that Arsenal are interested in Kerkez however, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Aston Villa have also registered their interest in signing the Hungarian and due to growing interest in him, Bournemouth have slapped a £42m price tag on his head.
Kerkez is quick and possesses high potential. However, he isn’t the exact type of player that Arteta wants to have in his backline as the Spaniard likes to have technically sound players in defence to help in building up from the back but the Bournemouth star isn’t the best in doing that.
So, Kerkez wouldn’t be an ideal acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him. Therefore, they would be better off exploring other options to strengthen the left-back position.
However, it remains to be seen whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign Kerkez if he leaves the Cherries next year.
