Arsenal are reportedly ‘pushing’ hard to sign Inter Milan star Yann Bisseck, as per the Italian outlet Inter Live.

The Gunners already have a pretty strong defensive department – which include Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba, Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jurrien Timber, Riccardo Calafiori and Jakub Kiwior.

However, Tomiyasu’s persistent fitness issue may have forced the North London club to start thinking about signing a new defender to replace him.

Inter Live states that Arsenal have identified Bisseck as a serious target to reinforce the backline and are ‘pushing’ hard to lure him to the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta ‘likes’ the 23-year-old and Arsenal are even ready to include Tomiyasu in a part-exchange deal to get this deal done as the Nerazzurri previously followed him.

Bisseck to Arsenal

However, Inter have no intention of signing the Japanese at the moment so the report says Arsenal could look to offload him in January and go for Bisseck.

The Emirates club are willing to submit a formal proposal worth around £21m to purchase the German but Inter want more than that to let him leave as he still has four years left in his current contract. However, Inter could change their stance if the defender were to force a move.

Bisseck is a 6ft 4in tall centre-back and is comfortable playing out from the back. Moreover, he has an eye for long-range passing and is also efficient in defensive contributions.

He is a talented player and has already won the Scudetto last term so the defender could be a solid acquisition for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future if they purchase him.

But, he didn’t play much last season and hasn’t been able to establish himself as a regular starter for the Italian giants yet so he doesn’t have much experience of playing at the highest level.

Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to secure his signature in January or next summer to reinforce the defensive department.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will commence their Champions League campaign against Atalanta in midweek before taking on Manchester City in the Premier League next weekend.
