Arsenal keeping close eye on Crystal Palace man Eberechi Eze

By on October 8, 2024

Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a swoop to sign Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, as per the former scout of Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, Mick Brown.

The Gunners currently have Martin Odegaard as the only specialist attacking midfielder. Fabio Vieira was an option for Mikel Arteta but having failed to gain regular first-team football, the Portuguese has been sent back to FC Porto on a loan deal.

Leandro Trossard is another option to deploy in the number ten role, although he is more comfortable playing out wide. Amid Odegaard’s recent injury absence, the Belgian has been playing regularly in the attacking midfield position to fill the Norwegian’s void.

Now, it appears the North London club are planning to add depth to this position and speaking on Football Insider, Brown says that Arsenal are interested in Eze. The Gunners have been keeping a close eye on the Englishman’s displays this season before making a potential swoop next year.

However, the transfer insider claims that Arsenal aren’t the only club looking at the Crystal Palace star as Liverpool and Manchester City are also plotting a swoop for him.

Brown said:

“I know the top clubs – Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool are all interested in a move and they’re keeping a close eye on him.”

Eze to Arsenal

The forward has a £68m release clause in his current contract and the clause can be activated next summer. Therefore, the North London club will have to splash a large sum to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in 2025.

The forward is a versatile player as he is capable of playing in the number ten role as well as the left-wing position. Moreover, he can provide cover in the number eight position if needed.

Eze has showcased his qualities in the Premier League in recent times but he has had a tough start to this season, scoring only one goal in seven appearances in the league thus far. As a result, Crystal Palace are languishing in the relegation zone.

Nevertheless, the 26-year-old is a talented player and would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal if they eventually opt to secure his signature next year.
