Arsenal Injury Crisis Deepens With Theo Walcott Ruled Out
Another day and another Arsenal attacker has been ruled out through injury. This time it’s Theo Walcott who looks set for a spell on the treatment table with the Mirror reporting that the winger has been ruled out for two weeks with a stomach injury.
Theo was pulled from the Stoke game on Sunday shortly before kick-off after injuring his abdominal muscle in the warm up. Arsene Wenger said after the game that he hoped it was nothing serious and felt Walcott would be back in a matter of days.
However, it seems our back luck with injuries has continued with the Mirror claiming that tests have shown the problem is worse than expected and Walcott will miss the next two weeks.
It means as well as missing the Stoke game on Sunday, he will now miss our next four games against West Brom (Cup), Swansea, Napoli and West Brom again in the league.
It’s another blow and the 24-year-old now joins an ever-growing injury list that includes Lukas Podolski, Santi Cazorla, Tomas Rosicky, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Yaya Sanogo and Abou Diaby.
Our squad is small enough, never mind having to deal with 5 or 6 first team players being out. The major problem is that all the injuries have hit the same area and we’re now without 5 players who are capable of playing out wide.
Jack Wilshere is already having to fill in on the left and now with Walcott out there is a huge void to fill on the right. Serge Gnabry started at the weekend and will be favourite to deputise over the coming games but the young German is still very raw and doesn’t pose nearly as much threat as Theo does.
It all leaves you wondering when our bad luck with injuries is going to end. All that remains is for Giroud to pick up and injury and we’ll be totally stuffed. Fingers crossed we can get through the next few weeks unscathed, get some players back and really push on.
How much of a blow if Walcott’s injury?
