Arsenal ‘preparing to make’ a move to sign Ferran Torres
Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a move to sign Barcelona star Ferran Torres, as per the Spanish outlet Fichajes.
After coming through Valencia’s youth system, the Spaniard displayed glimpses of his qualities for Los Ches during the early stages of his career. Having been impressed by his performances for the Mestalla club, Manchester City decided to purchase him back in 2020.
Upon moving to the Etihad Stadium, Torres enjoyed great success but he never managed to secure his place in Pep Guardiola’s starting line-up. However, despite that, Barcelona decided to spend big to sign the player a few years ago but he has failed to play regular first-team football for the Blaugrana as well.
Having failed to settle down at the Catalan giants, speculation surrounding Torres’ future continues to emerge. Now, Fichajes states that although Torres hasn’t been a regular starter for Barcelona, Arsenal are interested in signing him and could make a move for him in the upcoming January window.
Torres to Arsenal
Hansi Flick’s side are open to letting their star man leave if they receive an offer of around £21m from his potential suitors such as the North London club.
However, the Spanish outlet states that purchasing the Spain international won’t be straightforward for Mikel Arteta’s side as Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also keen on hiring him.
Torres likes to play in the right-wing position but is also comfortable in the centre-forward role. Moreover, he can be deployed in the left-wing position.
Arteta has been willing to sign a right-winger to support Bukayo Saka. Arsenal signed Raheem Sterling from Chelsea on a loan deal in the summer to add depth to the attack. But, he is expected to return to the West London club at the end of this season.
Although Torres hasn’t been able to flourish his career in recent times, he is still just 24 and has plenty of time on his head to revive his career. Arteta has already showcased his ability to help young talents develop their career and the Blaugrana star will also get the benefits of that if he eventually moves to the Emirates Stadium ahead of next season.
