Arsenal keen on signing West Ham star Mohammed Kudus
Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus, as per the Daily Mail.
Goal-scoring has been a problematic area for the Gunners thus far this term. They started the season promisingly but struggled to find the back of the net in the last few games before the November international break.
In the last six games in the Premier League and Champions League, the North London club have only managed to score four goals. Gabriel Martinelli has netted only three goals in 11 league appearances, while Kai Havertz has scored four.
Now, the Daily Mail states that Arsenal are planning to address this issue by purchasing a new attacker and Kudus is on their radar. They have been monitoring the Ghanaian’s performances in recent times before making a potential swoop.
But, West Ham don’t want to let their star man leave unless his £85m release clause is triggered by his potential suitors such as the North London club with his clause set to get reactivated at the end of this season.
Kudus to Arsenal
However, Kudus is open to leaving Julen Lopetegui’s side to take the next step in his career and play in the Champions League.
The 24-year-old still has more than three and a half years left in his current contract so the Hammers are in a strong position to stay firm on their valuation.
The report says that purchasing Kudus won’t be straightforward for Arsenal as Liverpool are also keen on hiring him and along with the Reds, several other big Premier League clubs are also showing concrete interest in him.
The African is one of the most versatile players in the world as he can play on either flank and is also comfortable in the centre-forward position and the attacking midfield role.
After joining the Hammers last year, he has already established himself as a key player for them in recent times. He is a Premier League proven player so he would be a statement acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him.
Kudus is technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has an eye for long-range passing and is efficient in taking set-pieces.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually decide to sign the forward by breaking the bank to strengthen the attacking department.
