Arsenal eye ambitious move to sign Bayern Munich’s Sane

By on December 3, 2024

Arsenal are reportedly considering making a move to sign Bayern Munich forward Leroy Sane, as per transfer journalist Ekrem Konur.

Signing a new right-winger to support Bukayo Saka has been a long-term desire of Mikel Arteta. The Gunners were previously linked with a host of options with Raphinha and Ferran Torres being among them.

The North London club decided to strengthen this position by hiring Raheem Sterling from Chelsea last term. But, he has joined the club on a loan deal and is expected to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of this season.

Therefore, it seems Arsenal have started looking at options to reinforce the frontline next year. Writing on X, Konur states that the Gunners are interested in Sane and they have been keeping a close eye on his situation at the Allianz Arena before making a potential swoop.

The 28-year-old’s current contract with the Bavarian club is set to expire at the end of this season so if the situation remains the same until next month then he would be able to agree on a pre-contract deal with foreign clubs in the winter window. However, Bayern have been in talks with him to extend his contract and are prepared to hand him a fresh five-year deal.

Sane to Arsenal

The journalist says Arsenal aren’t the only club looking at signing him by taking advantage of his current situation as Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Barcelona are also in this race.

Konur wrote:

“Bayern Munich are in talks to extend the contract of 28-year-old German winger Leroy Sane until 2029. Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle United and FC Barcelona are monitoring the German’s situation.”

Sane is valued at around £50m by Transfermarkt and if Arsenal can manage to hire a player of his qualities for free then that would be a great business.

The forward is a Premier League proven player as he previously enjoyed great success in the English top-flight during his time with Manchester City. Moreover, he has won multiple major silverware at the Allianz Arena as well over the years.

The German would add experience and a winning mentality to a young squad should Arteta’s side secure his service. But, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually sign him to strengthen the attack.
