Arsenal urged to sign Omar Marmoush and Ademola Lookman

By on December 20, 2024

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has urged his former club to sign Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush and Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman to bolster the attack.

In terms of numbers, the Gunners have ample options in their frontline. Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are the two centre-forwards, while Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard are the two left-wingers Mikel Arteta currently has at his disposal.

Bukayo Saka is the first-choice right-winger and Raheem Sterling is his deputy. However, apart from Saka, Arsenal’s other attacking options have been inconsistent thus far this season.

Although Jesus has made five goal contributions in three games in the EFL Cup, he is yet to open his account in the Premier League and the Champions League.

On the other hand, Havertz has scored 10 goals and registered two assists in 23 appearances in all competitions. But, he hasn’t been able to find the back of the net against the traditional big six teams in the league.

Marmoush & Lookman to Arsenal

Martinelli and Trossard have scored four goals each in all competitions thus far this season. Therefore, Arsenal could do with upgrading the attacking department.

Speaking on the Wright’s House Podcast, the former striker has said that Marmoush and Lookman are the two forwards who would be great signings for Arsenal to bolster the frontline.

He said:

“You know what? There’s two players I’d probably go for here. But like, we obviously have to go for one. And I’d like people to have a look at Omar Marmoush, Eintracht Frankfurt.

“You know him, right? You know him very well. And you know, from Eintracht Frankfurt, and you know, Ademola Lookman from Atlanta, bro. If you’re going, if I’m going now, and you have to get something, if you go hard, bam, I’m going hard on them two. Go and look at Omar Marmoush, Eintracht Frankfurt, what he’s doing.”

Marmoush – valued at around £33m by Transfermarkt – has been in excellent form this season, making 30 goal contributions in 23 matches in all competitions. The Egyptian is a versatile player as he is comfortable playing in the centre-forward position as well as out wide.

On the other hand, Lookman – valued at around £46m by Transfermarkt – has been helping his side mount a title charge this term after guiding them to win the Europa League title last season. He is a left-winger by traits but is also efficient in the false nine role.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal eventually make a move for the duo to reinforce the frontline next year.
