Arsenal ‘dream’ of signing Newcastle ace Alexander Isak
Arsenal reportedly have a ‘dream’ of signing Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak, as per transfer journalist Ben Jacobs.
After joining the Tyneside club from Real Sociedad back in 2022, the forward guided his team to qualify for the Champions League by finishing in the top-four in his debut campaign in the Premier League.
The Magpies couldn’t replicate the same performance last term but the Swedish international displayed productive performances, scoring 21 goals and registering two assists in 27 league starts.
Now, Isak started the new campaign slowly but has been in excellent form in recent games, scoring six goals and notching up two assists in the last four league encounters.
Overall, in 15 matches in the English top-flight, he has made 14 goal contributions thus far this term. The striker has netted against Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool in the league.
Isak to Arsenal
Isak has also showcased his goal-scoring prowess on the international stage for Sweden this season, making five goal contributions in four Nations League games.
Now, speaking on GiveMeSport, Jacobs state that Arsenal ‘dream’ of signing the Newcastle star to reinforce the attack and the player wants to take the next step in his career.
His goal is to play for a Champions League club in future but he doesn’t want to leave the Premier League so Arsenal could be able to persuade him to join should they formalise their interest.
But, the player is currently focused on playing for the Magpies and they aren’t willing to sell him. The forward still has a contract until 2028 at St James’ Park so they aren’t worried about tying him down to a fresh term yet.
Jacobs said:
“I mean, Arsenal’s dream priority is Alexander Isak, and I’m still told that he would like to join a Champions League club and stay in the Premier League in the long run.
“But of course, in the short-to-medium term, he’s on fire for Newcastle United. He’s invested at Newcastle, and he’s well contracted at Newcastle, so they aren’t worried about necessarily losing Isak imminently, nor do they feel they absolutely have to agree a new contract with him because he remains healthily contracted. So it’s a bit of a dream target for Arsenal.”
Isak is a Premier League proven player so he would be a great coup for the North London club if they can eventually manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium next year.
