Arsenal eye swoop to sign Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic
Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a move to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, as per Caught Offside.
The Serbian burst onto the scene after displaying impressive performances for Fiorentina. Having been impressed by him, the Gunners previously expressed their interest in signing him but the Bianconeri eventually managed to win the race back in 2022.
Upon moving to the Allianz Stadium, the 24-year-old has been the first-choice striker for the Old Lady of Turin. However, he hasn’t been able to replicate the form that he showed at La Viola at the record Italian championships.
Now, Vlahovic has entered the final 18 months of his current contract at Juventus and Caught Offside claim that it is looking highly unlikely that the striker will prolong his stay at Allianz Stadium by signing a fresh term.
So, he is increasingly likely to leave in January or next summer and Juventus are prepared to cash-in if they receive an offer of around £54m. Arsenal have revived their interest in signing him and have been keeping a close eye on his situation before making a potential swoop.
Vlahovic to Arsenal
However, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on purchasing him so securing his service won’t be straightforward for Mikel Arteta’s side.
After becoming the Arsenal manager back in 2019, Arteta has managed to make the North London club a title contender over the last few years. But, they have been finding it difficult to take the next step and finally win the Premier League title.
It has widely been suggested that the Gunners must sign a prolific goal-scorer to achieve that. Vlahovic isn’t the most productive striker in the world but he would be an upgrade to what Arsenal currently have if they purchase him.
Kai Havertz enjoyed a bright start to this season but has gone off the boil in recent weeks, while Gabriel Jesus started the season poorly but has been in fine form in recent times.
So, consistency has been a huge issue for Jesus and Havertz, therefore, signing a new striker would be the right decision for Arsenal. But, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to sign Vlahovic this year.
