Arsenal set to take ‘concrete steps’ to sign Dusan Vlahovic
Arsenal are reportedly preparing to take ‘concrete steps’ to sign Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic, as per transfer journalist Rudy Galetti.
The Serbian’s future has been a subject of speculation in this winter window as he has entered the final 18 months of his current contract. It has even been reported that the player doesn’t want to renew his deal with the Bianconeri.
So, Juventus are open to cashing-in on him to avoid losing him for free and want to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Manchester United as a potential replacement for the Serbian.
Arsenal hold a long-term interest in Vlahovic as they attempted to hire him a few years ago before Juventus managed to beat them in the race. Now, they have an opportunity to finally secure his service.
Writing on X, Galetti states that the Gunners have identified Vlahovic as the top target to reinforce the frontline and are ready to take ‘concrete steps’ to get the deal done.
Vlahovic to Arsenal
The North London club are set to hold talks with Juventus by the weekend to explore the possibility of luring him to the Emirates Stadium before the end of this transfer window.
The journalist wrote:
“Arsenal are ready to take further concrete steps toward Vlahovic, the main target for their attack. A new meeting is expected by the weekend to explore the negotiation margins for a move already in Jan. Arsenal have been on his tracks for months.”
The forward has displayed promising performances thus far this season, scoring 11 goals and registering two assists in 21 appearances in the Champions League and Serie A.
The 24-year-old, valued at around £51m by Transfermarkt, is still very young and possesses the necessary attributes to flourish in the Premier League.
He is quick, strong, excellent in the air, has the poacher’s instinct inside the box, is a determined character and also works extremely hard without possession.
Therefore, the Serbian international would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him. Following Gabriel Jesus’ season-ending knee injury, Arsenal need a new striker to mount a title charge in the second half of this season.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually bolster the attack before the February 3rd transfer deadline.
