Arsenal have reportedly held informal discussions over a potential deal to sign Botafogo’s Igor Jesus, according to journalist Ben Jacobs as relayed by Brazilian journalist Eduardo Burgos .

The Gunners are in dire need of reinforcements upfront, following a string of injuries and inconsistency in their forward line. With Bukayo Saka sidelined until March and Gabriel Jesus ruled out for nine months, Arsenal are being forced to act in the winter transfer window to secure attacking options.

Igor Jesus, a 23-year-old attacker from Brazilian side Botafogo, has emerged as one of three forwards linked to the Emirates. Alongside him, Arsenal are reportedly monitoring RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško, though a deal for the Slovenian forward is considered challenging, and Brighton’s Evan Ferguson, another high-profile target.

 Igor Jesus to Arsenal

Eduardo Burgos has reported that Igor Jesus is being considered as a cost-effective alternative to the more expensive names on Arsenal’s radar, and the Gunners have already held initials talks over a potential deal.

The versatile forward, who can play both as a central striker and on the wings, could offer valuable options in attack. His arrival would provide depth and competition for players like Kai Havertz, Leandro Trossard, and fellow Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli.

The Botafogo star has also been linked with Everton in the past, but financial constraints prevented the Toffees from securing his services.

Igor Jesus is regarded as one of the most sought-after players in Brazil. Valued at £13 million (transfermarkt) he enjoyed a productive campaign in the Brazilian top flight last season, scoring five goals and providing three assists in 22 matches.

He was instrumental in Botafogo’s Copa Libertadores triumph, registering three goals and two assists in six games during the competition. His performances have caught the attention of clubs across Europe, with Arsenal now reportedly the latest name linked to the South American.

With the Premier League title race heating up, Arsenal are desperate to strengthen their squad before the close of the winter transfer window. Adding a versatile forward like Igor Jesus would enhance their chances of keeping pace with league leaders Liverpool and mounting a serious challenge for the title.

The Gunners will hope to conclude a deal swiftly, ensuring they can address their injury-hit forward line and maintain their competitive edge in the second half of the season.
