Arsenal interested in signing PSV Eindhoven’s Johan Bakayoko

By on February 14, 2025

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing PSV Eindhoven star Johan Bakayoko, as per Caught Offside.

After joining the Eredivisie giants back in 2019, the 21-year-old made his senior debut in 2022 before establishing himself as a key player in recent seasons.

After making 21 goal contributions in the Dutch top flight last term, the Belgian has scored 10 goals and registered three assists in all competitions thus far this season. He even netted an excellent goal against Liverpool in the final league game in the Champions League.

Now, Caught Offside state that Arsenal have expressed their interest in Bukayo to strengthen the attack and could make a formal proposal next summer.

The forward’s heart is set on playing in the Premier League so Arsenal would be able to persuade him to join should they make a move for him with PSV open to letting him leave for a fee of at least £42m.

However, Liverpool are also in this race and have been showcasing a serious interest in recent times. Additionally, Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle United and RB Leipzig are contemplating making a move for him as well.

Bakayoko will enter the final year of his current contract with the Dutch giants next summer so they might be ready to sell him for a lower fee than the reported sum in the upcoming window to avoid losing him for free.

The Belgian international is a left-footed right-sided forward. He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas and also has the ability to play threading passes between the lines. Moreover, he has an eye for scoring goals from distance, can link up the play and is also efficient in finishing off his opportunities.

Purchasing a new right winger to support Bukayo Saka has been a long-standing desire of Mikel Arteta. Following Ethan Nwaneri’s emergence, he has been deployed in the right flank every now and then amid Saka’s injury absence and has displayed promising performances.

However, he is very young and his game time needs to be managed to help him reach his full potential. Therefore, signing a new right winger would be the right decision and Bakayoko could be a shrewd acquisition if they eventually hire him.
