Arsenal are reportedly ‘increasingly keen’ on signing LOSC Lille star Jonathan David, as per Caught Offside.

Having moved to Stade Pierre Mauroy from Belgian side Gent back in 2020, the Canadian has showcased his goal-scoring prowess in Ligue 1 over the years. He even guided Les Dogues to win the league title in the 2020/21 season.

Now, he has continued to display impressive performances this season, scoring 23 goals and registering 10 assists in 41 appearances in all competitions.

However, the 25-year-old’s future has been a subject of speculation in recent months as his current contract will expire at the end of this season. It has been suggested that he will leave Lille as a free agent this summer.

Caught Offside claim that Arsenal may not spend big in the upcoming transfer window so they are ‘increasingly keen’ on signing David to bolster the attacking department.

However, the Gunners will have to overcome stiff competition to seal the deal as West Ham United, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Barcelona, Juventus, Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain are all plotting a swoop for him.

The Hammers have even made contact with the player’s representatives to secure his service by defeating other clubs in this race.

It has been reported that the North London club want to reinforce the attacking department by signing a new prolific goal-scorer as they want to assemble a squad that can finally win the Premier League title.

So, they have been linked with a move for Alexander Isak, Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres in recent weeks with David now emerging as a key option.

The Lille star is a talented striker and is set to enter the prime stage of his career. Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him.

However, David may take time to settle down in the Premier League and Mikel Arteta’s side would be better off going for a more proven player to bolster the frontline even if they hire the 25-year-old.

It is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal eventually opt to lure David to the Emirates Stadium in the upcoming transfer window.
