Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo to bolster their attacking options.

The Gunners were actively seeking a new attacker in the summer but did not make any signings.

This decision has contributed to them trailing league leaders Liverpool by 12 points.

The North London side have struggled with injuries to key attacking players this season.

Additionally, none of their current forwards have consistently delivered world-class performances, unlike Mohamed Salah at Liverpool.

Newcastle lead the race for Mbeumo

According to CaughtOffside, Arsenal are closely watching Mbeumo ahead of the summer window but face competition for his signature.

The report says that Manchester United are also in the race for the Cameroonian international while Newcastle United have emerged as the frontrunner, showing the most significant interest.

The Magpies are reportedly willing to meet Brentford’s £50 million valuation to secure the forward’s signature this summer.

Mbeumo is under contract with Brentford until the end of next season. Despite that, the West London club might find it challenging to keep their star man, given the growing interest from Premier League rivals.

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have also expressed interest in the talented forward.

He joined Brentford from French club Troyes in 2019 and has scored 65 goals and provided 47 assists in 233 appearances for the Bees.

Arsenal facing stiff competition

Newcastle’s financial strength puts them in a strong position to beat Arsenal and Manchester United to Mbeumo’s signature.

With Eddie Howe’s side determined to secure the forward, it remains to be seen if the Gunners will match their bid.

Brentford will undoubtedly want to keep hold of their key players, but they may find it hard to resist a substantial offer.

Mbeumo’s versatility and goal-scoring make him an attractive prospect for many top clubs.
