Arsenal in front of the queue to sign Jesus Rodriguez

By on April 18, 2025

Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign Real Betis forward Jesus Rodriguez, as per Caught Offside.

The Gunners have been inconsistent in the Premier League this season but have been going strong in the Champions League. They have reached the semi-final of this competition by thrashing Real Madrid 5-1 on aggregate and are set to play against Paris Saint-Germain.

Declan Rice was excellent in both legs against Los Blancos and became the player of the match on both occasions. Arsenal defeated Les Parisiens in the Champions League league phase at the Emirates Stadium and will be confident to beat any team at the moment, having overcome the record European Champions’ challenge.

Considering Arsenal’s chance of winning the league is almost impossible and they have already been knocked out of the FA Cup, their main focus is to win the Champions League for the first time in their history this season.

Amid this situation, the summer transfer window is approaching fast and Arsenal have started looking at options to strengthen the squad to win the Premier League next campaign.

Rodriguez to Arsenal

Caught Offside state that Arsenal want a new left-sided forward and have registered their interest in Rodriguez, having been impressed by his performances this season.

Arteta’s side have been keeping a close eye on his development this season before making a potential swoop this summer. Real Betis don’t want to sell the 19-year-old with his existing deal set to run until 2029, but they could change their stance should they receive a lucrative proposal.

The youngster’s recent eye-catching displays haven’t just attracted Arsenal’s attention, as Liverpool and Chelsea are also keen on hiring him. However, the Gunners are ahead of the Reds and the Blues in this race.

Rodriguez is a talented player and has showcased glimpses of his qualities at Estadio Benito Villamarin this season, but he is still a raw talent and needs time to develop his career.

Therefore, Arsenal would be better off going for a more proven attacker to bolster the squad. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually purchase him this summer.
